Meet Cat Specialists

To our veterinary colleagues

Thank you for visiting our page. We are a feline-only practice in Kaohsiung, in southern Taiwan.

Our director has previously had the privilege of visiting Inuyama Animal Hospital and other animal hospitals in Osaka and Tokyo, an experience that inspired the founding of our hospital. In November 2026 we are visiting veterinary hospitals in Japan again to learn from your approach to feline medicine — especially cat-friendly clinic design, low-stress handling and long-term management of chronic disease. We would also be glad to share what feline practice looks like in Taiwan. We look forward to meeting you.

About us

Meet Cat Specialists opened in Kaohsiung in 2019 as a hospital designed entirely for cats, and was accredited as an ISFM Gold Cat Friendly Clinic the same year.

The idea grew out of our director's clinical visits to animal hospitals in Japan, which showed us how much cats benefit from dedicated feline care. In most practices cats and dogs share waiting and treatment areas, and the sounds and smells of dogs can make cats anxious. Here, cats are never exposed to dogs from the moment they arrive. Our veterinarians adapt their approach to each cat's personality, keeping them calm and comfortable — which also allows a more thorough examination.

In 2024 we moved to a quiet side street with little heavy traffic, close to a convenience store and cafés where families can wait. The new building was planned from scratch to improve patient flow and shorten waiting times.

  • Clinical visits at Inuyama Animal Hospital and animal hospitals in Osaka and Tokyo
  • MemberInternational Society of Feline MedicineFormosa Veterinary Medical Association
  • Continuing education in veterinary cardiology and surgery, and at Asian small animal veterinary congresses
Every cat has its own personality, so we adapt how we communicate and examine to keep stress low. Regular check-ups let us find problems early and give cats a better life.

  • Member, Veterinary Internal Medicine Society (Taiwan)
  • Training in small-animal endodontics and gastrointestinal imaging

Cats tolerate pain remarkably well, so dental disease is often noticed only once it affects eating. Regular check-ups and home dental care work hand in hand with treatment.
Veterinarian

Dr. Chun-Fang Wang

  • Previously attending veterinarian and hospital director at animal hospitals in Taiwan
  • Former shelter veterinarian, Kaohsiung City Animal Protection Office
Originally a dog person, she fell for cats after taking in a stray kitten, Momo. Caring for countless kittens at the city shelter deepened her commitment to feline welfare.

How we practise cat-friendly care

From the building to the workflow, every detail starts with one question: how does this feel for the cat?

Cats only

We see only feline patients, so the waiting area is free of barking and dog scents.

Appointment only

Consultations run on scheduled time slots to keep waiting in the carrier to a minimum.

Gentle handling

Low-stress, minimal-restraint handling at the cat's own pace — splitting procedures into steps when needed.

Feline spaces

Consultation rooms and wards designed around feline behaviour: quiet, with places to hide and fewer visual stressors.
